To make a working Boomerang
Here's an idea from Brown Owl you can try - be careful when you throw it!
1. Copy or draw the shape opposite in thin card.
2. Decorate it with aboriginal patterns and colour it in.
3. Cut it out
Now you have your boomerang. To fly it, hold a book in one hand, flat. Put the boomerang on it with one wing sticking out over the edge. Hit this wing with your hand, and the boomerang will fly off, then come back to you!
See www.deadlyartonline.com/resources/symbols.htm for ideas on decoration
Boomerangs are throwing sticks used by Aboriginal people in Australia for hunting. The are usually curved, and decorated. To find out more see: www.boomerangshack.com/boomerang_information.htm
Always be careful when throwing boomerangs not to throw near or at anyone, or near anything that might break.
